Church pays for temporarily cheap gasoline
By Carl • Jan 13th, 2009 • Category: Faith ReportTULSA, Okla. (AP) _ A church in Tulsa, Oklahoma, expects a discount gas promotion it sponsored to cost about ,000.
For two hours on Saturday, the price of a gallon of gas at a local convenience store was .09 a gallon — 50 cents lower than its previous posted price.
The idea for the gas discount came from Foundations Church, a new interdenominational church with an Assemblies of God affiliation.
Church member Rachel Heckeroth says the church decided to sponsor the gas discount as a way of helping Tulsa residents during the current economic downturn.
